La región española de Aragón es pionera en nuevos modelos de gestión ambiental, relacionados con el agua los residuos,
la educación ambiental o los espacios naturales, entre otros. Ha puesto en marcha el mayor plan de depuración de aguas
residuales de Europa, y cuenta con un órgano de participación social plural sobre agua único en el mundo, la Comisión
del Agua de Aragón. La región tiene plenas competencias en la mayoría de las áreas relacionadas con el medio ambiente.
Su ministro regional, Alfredo Boné, preside además la Conferencia de Regiones de Europa sobre Medio Ambiente (ENCORE),
un foro que agrupa a más de cien regiones de toda Europa. El plenario del ENCORE, tendrá lugar en junio de 2008 en la
capital de Zaragoza, Zaragoza, con la participación de más de 45 ministros regionales europeos, y versará sobre agua y
cambio climático. El liderazgo internacional de Aragón está avalado por la organización de la Exposición Internacional
de Agua y Desarollo Sostenible de Zaragoza 2008, la sede de la Oficina de la Década del Agua de Naciones Unidas y el
trabajo del Centro Internacional del Agua (CIAMA-La Alfranca) y del Instituto Aragonés del Agua, que cuentan con expertos
de prestigio internacional y organiza eventos del máximo nivel mundial.

Centro Virtual de Información del Agua (CEVIA)
El Centro Virtual de Información del Agua (CEVIA), es un portal interactivo que permite el intercambio de información
y discusión, en torno al tema del agua. Cuenta con una sección pública, eventos, bolsa de trabajo, noticias nacionales
e internacionales y una biblioteca temática. Este proyecto es auspiciado por la Fundación Gonzalo Río Arronte, I.A.P.
y la coordinación general se encuentra a cargo del Fondo para la Comunicación y la Educación Ambiental, A.C. (FEA, AC).
Una de las partes medulares de este proyecto es el de identificar todos aquellos actores interesados en la problemática
del agua para crear grupos de trabajo especializados por tema de interés.

International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID)
The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage was established on 24 June, 1950
as a Scientific, Technical and Voluntary Not-for-profit Non-Governmental International
Organization (NGO) with headquarters in New Delhi, India. The Commission is dedicated to
enhancing the worldwide supply of food and fibre for all people by improving water and
land management and the productivity of irrigated and drained lands through appropriate
management of water, environment and application of irrigation, drainage and flood
management techniques.

International Water Resources Association (IWRA)
Since its official formation in 1972, the organization has actively promoted the
sustainable management of water resources around the globe. The belief that sustainability
requires interdisciplinary action and international cooperation is a driving force behind
the association. IWRA seeks to improve water resource outcomes by improving our
collective understanding of the physical, biological, chemical, institutional, and
socioeconomic aspects of water.

The Stockholm International Water Institute is a scientific, technical and educational
organization that contributes to international efforts to combat the escalating global
water crisis. SIWI facilitates research, raises awareness and stimulates action on world

Inter-American Development Bank (BID)
The Inter-American Development Bank is the oldest and largest regional multilateral
development institution. The Bank's operations cover the entire spectrum of economic and
social development. In the past, Bank lending emphasized the productive sectors of
agriculture and industry, the physical infrastructure sectors of energy and
transportation and the social sectors of environmental and public health, education and
urban development. Current lending priorities include poverty reduction and social
equity, modernisation and integration, and the environment.

State Water Commission of Guanajuato, Mexico
The State Water Commission of Guanajuato (CEAG), is the most advanced water management
institution in Mexico. Among the main objectives of the Commission are the planning of
the water sector in the State and support the municipal water utilities. CEAG is actively
promoting a new water-culture in the state, and is improving water management efficiency.

Capacity Building International, Germany
InWEnt is a non-profit organisation dedicated to advance training and human resource
development in the Third World. Together with partner organisations in Germany and abroad,
it forms an international network, which offer practice-oriented training, exchange and
foreign learning language programmes. The organisation's objectives are: promoting
know-how and transfer of knowledge between North and South, East and West, international
exchange of experience, initiating developmental processes and global cooperation.
